I got nothing.  Really.  Since last week, I’ve done the bind off on one sock and crocheted one row on my shawl.  That’s it.  Pathetic.  Its been one of those weeks – one in which days go by and I look at the clock with mild confusion because I really can’t figure out where the time went.

And ironically, I find myself developing a serious case of finish-up-itis.  Better than startitis, for sure.  I really want to finish the socks and the shawl.  Then, I want to go back to my Oh Canada shawl and finish that.  Remember that project?  I started it last June, on a business trip.  It occurred to me that I will bring it to San Fransisco this June on another business trip, likely in the same spot where I left off when I landed last June.  So sad.  Need to finish it and move on!

So my goal for the week, knit!  Crochet!  Do something!  I will cast on the second sock and crochet at least a repeat on the shawl if it kills me.  Which it won’t.  It’ll be good for me.  At least then I’ll know where a few hours went.

Saturday was a perfect day for the first sheep and wool festival of the season.  Admittedly, a little warm – it hit 90.  Very unusual for this time of the year!  Heat aside, it was clear, dry and beautiful out.  I met up with the girls – Audrey, Amy, Peggy and Paula – for a relaxed afternoon at the festival.

This festival is one of my favorites – small and with lots of local folks.  I got to see a lot of people, vendors and attendees, that I hadn’t seen all winter.  It was a lovely was to spend an afternoon.  And of course, there was a little bit of stash enhancement.  I picked up this lovely merino fibermerino and a pretty new case for my crochet hooks Crippenworks case crochet hook roll The case is from Crippenworks.  It matches the hanging needle case that I have from them.  Love their fabrics and the quality construction.  Beautiful!

All in all, a great afternoon – the highlight of my weekend!

So apparently the 3rd time was the charm for the bind off of my first Malabrigo sock.  First try, with a standard bind off on a needle 2 sizes up, was so tight that it would have left a ring around my calf.  Not pretty.  Thankfully, my SnB buddies came to the rescue with several great suggestions for sewn and knitted bind offs with plenty of stretch.  After a bit of playing, I went with Audrey’s suggestion of a Russian lace bind off.  My first try on the same 2 sizes up needle was WAY loose and I ran out of yarn.  One extreme to the other there!  Try number 3 resulted in a perfect bind off.  Its plenty loose and matches the stretch of the ribbing perfectly.  Malabrigo sock the first

ends to weave in yet and pesky ankle gaps to darn but its done.  onward to #2!

Now that I’ve finished a fabulous wool sock, its warming up.  Sock will be worn next winter, which is perfectly fine with me.  Today, I’m breaking out the sandals for the first time.  This weekend promises temps in the 80s!  Squee!  CT Sheep and Wool is tomorrow – what a perfect day for it.  And Sunday, though I have a pile of work stuff to do, I fully intend to pull out my favorite deck chair and park myself in it with the laptop.  Work aside, not such a bad way to spend a Sunday.

Happy Friday!
